Recently found this short piece of ‘knitting animation’. It was made by Sarah Cox for the Live Earth concerts and uses unravelling knitting to illustrate the unravelling of our planet’s ecosystems. By coincidence, the film will be part of an exhibition about using craft in animation that is happening at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton, Devon from now until 5th March 2011.
After I’d watched this, I looked for other pieces of ‘knitting animation’. Here’s a great one for anybody who’s ever held a skein of wool while their granny/mum/wife wound it into a ball. Next time just say NO!
Have a search on YouTube and other video sites for ‘knitting animation’; there’s loads out there.
