Last week, I found another source of local wool; Huxtable Farm, near Barnstaple. Jackie got in touch with me via a contact I made while exhibiting GFAC at Plymouth College of Art. Jackie has a small flock of Jacob sheep and has some of the fleeces spun into yarn, and also sells carded and unwashed fleece. If you go on to the website, you will see photos of some georgeous blankets and cushions made from the Jacob wool. I bought three skeins of yarn in cream, grey and black, and Jackie very kindly included two balls of her own handspun yarn and some carded and unwashed fleece. It all arrived in time for me to use at the textile fair at Duchy Square. I wound off the grey and cream into small balls of yarn that people took away to knit sheep.
