The other day I was going around the internet in search of Devon, Cornwall, South West wools. It’s amazing how often I find something on there that is just round the corner from me and I never knew it was there. Here’s an example of this. I searched for Cornish wool and on page two or three of the results, there was Cornish Wools from Perranuthnoe near Penzance. Fantastic wools sourced from farms on the Lizard Peninsula (far west of Cornwall, beautiful landscape, go see) and the Roseland peninsula (bit further east, and ditto). I ordered two balls of everything and it arrived the next day! That’s what I call customer service. Valerie, the owner, put a note in wishing me well with GFAC. I have placed a link to her website under Yarn Suppliers so please go and have a look and buy yourself some beautiful wool grown in Cornwall. And knit yourself a cosy scarf for winter. And a sheep for the GFAC flock.
Here’s the yarn I got: Manx Loaghtan DK, Leicester Longwool 4 ply, Lleyn Lambswool Aran, DK & 4 ply, Jacob Marl DK. Valerie was also kind enough to include a ball of her new yarn, Alpaca & Lleyn Blend DK (50%/50%).
Another result of my trawl around the internet was some chunky weight organic wool from Great Gargus Farm, Roseland, processed and sold by Cornish Organic Wool. It was on sale, and we at GFAC know a bargain when we see it. It will make lovely fat sheep!
