Plymouth College of Art is currently hosting Material Actions, an exhibition of textile artists working around themes of sustainable textiles and craftivism. On Saturday, I attended a seminar where four of the artists spoke about their work: Emma Neuberg, Charlotte Squire, Jonnet Middleton, and Lucy Brown.
All spoke passionately about their work but the one that resonated with me most was Jonnet Middleton. Her work, UnityPanda, was a great inspiration for GFAC, so it was great to be able to see the processes she had been through to create 130 knitted pandas. There’s a great video here about the work.
Material Actions is moving to CCANW from 27th November 2010 until 27th February 2011 and I strongly recommend that you to go and have a look.
